Lejla Pandzi, Business Development Manager & Program Lead for Sustainability

Lejla, how did you get started in the tech industry, and what experiences shaped your journey to where you are today?

Lejla: During my school years, my interest in studying ethics was fueled by a desire to contribute positively to the world around me. However, as I delved deeper into exploring different career paths, I came to realize the immense potential for impact within the tech industry. Upon completing my university education, I embarked on a journey with T-Systems, where I now serve as a Business Development Manager in the Automotive team. Within this role, I've made sustainability my focal point. I firmly believe that data and sustainability are a perfect match. Leveraging our expertise as an IT provider, we empower clients to tackle their sustainability challenges head-on. Through initiatives like X-Creation for Sustainability, we cultivate meaningful partnerships and collaborate with clients to drive real change. Despite the challenges and regulatory hurdles along the way, I find immense fulfillment in my work. It's a journey filled with purpose and significance, and one that I'm wholeheartedly committed to pursuing.

What was the most significant barrier to female leadership, and how did you overcome it?

Lejla: I can't pinpoint the most significant barrier, but addressing issues like underestimating young women, is crucial. Female Leadership is still not very common in Tech or Automotive. However, I'm grateful for the opportunity to take on the role as a program lead for sustainability within our T-Systems Sales unit, where I collaborate with exceptionally talented individuals to empower our clients. This experience has allowed me to learn and grow, and it feels like a positive step forward.

What supports you in achieving your career goals as a female talent?

Lejla: T-Systems offers diverse career opportunities. I've received support and understanding from my leaders, who did their best to open doors and actively promote the development of our talents.
The most inspiring support comes from some of my young colleagues, with whom I've built strong relationships based on mutual encouragement and motivation.

What advice would you give to young women looking to kick-start their career in tech?

Lejla: Education is a privilege that should never be taken for granted. Explore various courses and subjects to uncover what truly ignites your curiosity and interest. Once you've found your niche, use your passion and talent to accelerate your impact. Also, as Michael Jordan said, “Talent wins games, but teamwork and intelligence win championships.” The world is too complex to try to solve everything by yourself, so collaboration and teamwork are essential in navigating the complexities of the tech world. Surround yourself with like-minded individuals who share your goals and aspirations. Together, you can achieve great things.

Lejla's journey in the tech industry exemplifies resilience, determination, and a passion for making a positive impact.
