Active stakeholder dialog is a key element in Deutsche Telekom’s corporate responsibility (CR) strategy. The requests and wishes of stakeholders are taken into account for example in the development of products and services, or in strategic considerations. The open dialog allows Deutsche Telekom to identify potential improvements and avoid risks.
Deutsche Telekom discusses current topics relating to responsible governance at a series of stakeholder events:
Corporate Responsibility (CR) DayCR Day offers internal and external stakeholders of Deutsche Telekom a forum for the critical discussion of aspects of corporate responsibility. A range of different topics are put up for discussion throughout the day, encouraging an exchange of opinions with and between relevant stakeholders. The CR strategy forms the thematic framework of CR Day 2009, with the fields of activity "connected life and work," "connect the unconnected" and "low-carbon society." This multi-stakeholder forum is being held on July 1, 2009 at the Deutsche Telekom’s Berlin Representative Office. More than 300 stakeholders are invited to the event, including representatives of business and politics, trade associations, NGOs, churches, suppliers and investors.
Stakeholder Dialog DayThe first Deutsche Telekom Stakeholder Dialog Day was held in 2008. More than forty representatives from five stakeholder groups discussed elements of a responsible procurement policy at Deutsche Telekom Headquarters in Bonn. At this round-table event, suppliers, analysts and employees along with representatives of NGOs and universities took the opportunity to present their ideas about responsible value chains, and raised many suggestions. The focus was on energy efficiency, working conditions, and waste and disposal management. In future the event will be held annually, offering an opportunity for discussion. The second Stakeholder Dialog Day on sustainable procurement will take place in May 2009.
Environmental protection round table event Every year Magyar Telekom invites representatives from the political, NGO and research communities to a round-table discussion of sustainability issues. The company has been promoting open dialog and mutual understanding in this way since 1997.
