Television of the future

For Deutsche Telekom's customers the future of communications can begin in comfort - in their living-room armchair.

Via the DSL connection, T-Home is opening up access to a new dimension of home entertainment. In addition to a flat rate for calls to the German fixed network and for high-speed surfing, Entertain from T-Home offers a wide range of IPTV services - all via one network and from a single source. Deutsche Telekom is offering what is currently the most comprehensive IPTV offer on the German market, with over 150 TV channels.

Opening up the mass market
With the new complete packages, Deutsche Telekom is systematically opening up the mass market. At present the ADSL2+ technology and Internet connections with transmission rates of up to 16 Mbit/s are available in 750 towns and cities (as at Dec. 31, 2007). In addition, 27 towns and cities have the latest VDSL fiber-optic networks, whereby bandwidths of up to 50 MBit/s are possible. By the end of 2008, it should be possible to supply around 20 million households in over 1,000 towns and cities across Germany with television via DSL.

Entertain
From EUR 49.95 a month, customers with the Entertain Comfort package receive, in addition to the telephone connection with DSL16 plus (VDSL costs EUR 10 per month extra), double flat rates for telephone and high-speed surfing, an extensive TV program package with around 70 TV channels as well as an electronic program guide. As a result, viewers can get information on the TV programs currently being shown by various channels as well as the program for the next two to three weeks directly from the TV set. With time-shift television, it is possible to interrupt the current program at any time by pressing a button and, after a break, you can continue from where you left off. The Program Manager also allows the user to program his video recorder at home from anywhere in the world via an Internet connection.

Video-on-demand
Access to a comprehensive and free-of-charge TV archive is also included. The package is supplemented by various add-on options, with which customers can extend their personal TV program to suit their own interests. Soccer fans, for example, who book the "Bundesliga auf PREMIERE powered by T-Home" option can watch all the 1st and 2nd division Bundesliga matches live from their living room. Subscribers to the Bundesliga package also have access to all the previous matches of the current season in the TV archive.

Another fixed component of all T-Home Entertain packages is video-on-demand, the second big entertainment package. At the push of a button on the remote control, customers can choose, order and watch a film from a selection of over 2,600 titles.

Comprehensive service
To make the beginning of the television future particularly easy, Deutsche Telekom offers a comprehensive service with its Entertain packages. This includes individual telephone consulting on all packages, a free-of-charge customer service hotline and a competitively priced installation service which installs all hardware and software components at the customer so that they are ready for operation – from Monday to Saturday.
